Earthly Delights from the Garden of France:The Wines of the Loire:Volume One: The Kingdom of Sauvignon Blanc: Sancerre, Pouilly-Fume and the Sauvignon Satellites
A Couple of New Fans
From the website of a sweet looking gite called Les Deux Platanes:
NEW WINE BOOK: The gite has a good selection of books including some excellent books and guides for wine lovers plus charts and maps for those wishing to visit vineyards in all sectors of the Loire region. For 2012 I have bought a new book specifically about the wines of the Loire. Written by award winning author Jacqueline Friedrich and entitled 'Earthly Delights from the Garden of France'. This text, full of background and easy reading for the non specialist provides an insight into the wines of the Sauvignon Blanc category, specifically Sancerre, Pouilly Fume and all the Sauvignon satellites. It also provides guidance on where to visit etc. Jacqueline is so impressed with the wines of central France she intends to write another two books eventually covering the entire region. Winner of the Wine & Spirits book of the year.

CENTRO DE DOCUMENTACIÓN
En el centro de documentación, y en el apartado de libros, dos novedades destacables. De entrada, la nueva obra de Jacqueline Friedrich, la periodista norteamericana especializada en vinos y gastronomía: Earthly Delights from the Garden of France - Wines of the Loire Vol. 1, The Kingdom of Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé and the Sauvignon satellites.
(Below is the Google translation. As usual, not the best but...)
The documentation center, and in the books section, two notable developments. From the outset, the new work of Jacqueline Friedrich, the American journalist specializing in food and wine: Earthly Delights from the Garden of France - Wines of the Loire Vol 1, The Kingdom of Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé Sauvignon and the satellites. It is, as indicated in its long and explicit title, a surprisingly well detailed foray into the magical world of wines from Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre, and designations of origin satellites. A clearly written job knowledge and authority, practically classifying producers, always subjective, it is very welcome, and certainly contributes to enrich our understanding of this vital region, and make it more attractive ... If possible!

Kind words from Eric Asimov.
This book is the offspring of A Wine & Food Guide to the Loire, which was published in 1996. Since that time, the Loire has changed so dramatically that Friedrich felt she needed to write a three-volume opus in order to do justice to the improved quality of the wines and to describe the dynamic, eco-conscious young vintners in each and every one of its appellations.
Volume One focuses on the wines of Sancerre, Pouilly-Fume and their satellites. Such is the progress made in what Friedrich calls “the Kingdom of Sauvignon blanc,” that she has completely revised her opinion of that popular but often underestimated grape. Its best wines now rival the finest Chablis. Wines made from Pinot Noir, the region’s second most important grape, grow more charming and more riveting with each vintage. What’s more, they are all affordable.
You’ll find: detailed descriptions of several hundred winemakers and thousands of wines, explanations of the region’s food specialties, as well as restaurant, hotel and tourism recommendations.
